YOGA & MEDITATION RETREAT
January 11 - 21, 2020
Please note: though the heading on this page is "sacred India Tour" -- in fact this Retreat is a totally separate program. Sorry for any confusion!)
We invite you to join us in Thiruvannamalai to partake of the spiritual energy there and to immerse ourselves in Yoga practice!
Thiruvannamalai is where the great yogi, Sri
Ramana Maharshi settled to do his sadhanas. The ashram he founded there (Ramana Ashram) has become a mecca for spiritual seekers from all parts of the world.
Our retreat program will be practice, practice, practice. Silence will be observed daily from 9 PM to 8 AM and also for two days in the middle of the program, after everyone is settled in.
Our hotel is located at a ten-minute walk from Ramana Ashram, and we will meditate there each morning followed by an Integral Yoga Hatha Yoga class, conducted at our hotel. On most mornings we will attend the wonderful lectures by Sri Nochur Venkataraman, an Indian scholar and disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi.
Your retreat leaders will be Swami Divyananda Ma and ---; both are Integral Yoga teachers with many years of experience.
Afternoons will alternate between rest or programs – We will have darshan at the ashrams of Yogi Ram Surat Kumar and Sri Seshadri Swamigal. We will tour the ancient Rajagiri Fort. We will repeatedly visit the many temples that encircle the Holy Mountain and take the trek to Skanda Ashram and Virupaksha Guha.
In the evening we will return to Ramana Ashram for their bhajans and meditation or join the worship services at Arunachaleswara Temple.
For those who wish we will repeatedly take an early-morning 8-mile walk around the "Holy Mountain", (Arunachala) chanting Gayatri Mantra as we go.
The fee for the Meditation Retreat (including two meals, accommodation and programs) is $750 for double room accommodation.
Please Note: The beaches of Pondicherry are only two hours distant from Thiruvannamalai. Since there is a five-day gap between this retreat and the beginning of the Sacred India Tour, we will be happy to make hotel arrangements for those who wish a "beach treat."
