December 28, 2018
to January 6, 2019

(Please note:  though the heading on this page is "sacred India Tour" -- in fact this Retreat is a totally separate program.  Sorry for any confusion!)

We invite you to join us in Thiruvannamalai for New Years 2019, to partake of the spiritual energy of Arunachala and to immerse ourselves in Yoga practice.

In Thiruvannamalai the orange is everywhere, mantras vibrate subliminally in the air, and the Shakti of the Holy Mountain Arunachala is a constant.  Thiruvannamalai is where Sri
Ramana Maharshi settled to do his sadhanas and the ashram he founded has become a mecca for spiritual seekers.

Our program will be practice, practice, practice. Silence will be observed daily from 9 PM to 8 AM. Our hotel is located a ten-minute walk from Ramana Ashram, and we will meditate there each morning 5 - 6 AM, followed by Yoga: our standard Integral Yoga class.  For will have the great blessing of lectures of Sri Nochur Venkataraman, an Indian scholar disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi.

Your retreat leaders will be Swami Divyananda Ma and Tarek Ghaney; both are Integral Yoga teachers with many years of experience.  Probably (90% sure) Swami Yatidharmanandaji will join us as well!

Our lunches will usually be at the Dreaming Tree, where the menu includes organic foods suitable for Westerners.

Afternoons will alternate between rest or programs – in the late afternoon we may take the trek to Skanda Ashram and Virupaksha Guha.  We will also have darshan at the ashrams of Yogi Ram Surat Kumar and Sri Seshadri Swamigal.  We will tour the ancient Rajagiri Fort.  We will repeatedly visit the many temples that encircle the Holy Mountain.

In the evening we will return to Ramana Ashram for their bhajans and on New Eve (plus one or two other evenings as well) we will an 8-mile walk around the Holy Mountain, chanting Gayatri Mantra as we go.

Most evenings will conclude with a Yoga Nidra and Meditation at our hotel.

The fee for the Meditation Retreat (including two meals, accommodation programs) is $650 for double room accommodation.

Please Note: The beaches of Pondicherry are only two hours distant from Thiruvannamalai. Since there is a five-day gap between this retreat and the beginning of the Sacred India Tour, we will be happy to make hotel arrangements for those who wish a "beach treat."
